The Worst Candidate: The Worst Candidate

  • nobama ever · 1 year ago
    newsflash to Colin:

Who gives a rip what the "Ireland or the rest of the world" needs? We're voting for OUR president. We won't allow America to become socialist like most of Eurpope (like Obama wants to turn us). And we're tired of being policemen and fighting wars for the rest of the world.

I will, however, tip a Guiness in your honor!

What's wrong with socialism? And we are living very good in Europe!

Ridiculous! I don't think he is perfect, but some of this information isn't all that trustworthy! I watched the Saddleback forum where you said he supposedly set a "minimum" standard for RICH at 5 million dollars. You obviously didn't watch the forum. It was a joke, he laughed, the host laughed, and now we are laughing at your article. Right after he said those words he mentioned that someone would try and use that against him! That's ridiculous and makes me then mistrust all of your information. It was an extremely clever way to put the information together though!
  • trollop · 1 year ago
McCain jokes because he can't tell you the honest answer: he has no idea what middle class is and he doesn't care.

Honestly all you poor people should just marry a rich heiress and be a real American success story.
  • Sherlock · 1 year ago
McCain has shown an ability to work with the other side, Obama has not, heck, he's having trouble working with his own side (Hillary).

Many of the scare tactics being said about McCain remind me of things the media said about Reagan in his first run. He's a warmonger who'll "push the button" and start WW III. He was divorced. Just an actor. etc. etc. He brought peace and prosperity that was still being felt 20 years later.

Regarding "gooks". Walk a mile in the man's shoes. Know what I mean?

While I am concerned about McCain's age, I am not at all concerned about his love for this country. Obama, on the other hand, does not love this country. He loves what this country could be once he gets his hands on it. Given his associations with far left, bomb throwing radicals, corrupt Chicago players and racist, scam artist preachers, this makes me very nervous.

To a great extent the questions above define the current president and the current presidential candidate on the GOP side. Can we, as intelligent beings, stand the insult to our brains for another four [or, God forbid, eight] years? Forget about damage to the country for a moment... can we stand further assault on the language, culture and ethos of America?

And, of course and more importantly, we run the risk of having such a president having a further profound effect on those who need the most help - which is not to say the Iraqis [although they, too, as individuals need help]. In America too many people live under bridges, eat once a day at best, haven't showered in weeks, cannot count on having a proper place to take care of ordinary bodily functions - not to say wear warm clothes and sleep o something other than sticks and dirt. Such a president as defined above would be [is] more concerned with his wealthy friends to whom he is obligated than to those whom we are called to help. This is more than shameful - it is unforgivable and a degradation of the value of human life.

Do not let it go on...
  • Beowolf · 1 year ago
Half of these things are points I couldn't care less about. And are we forgetting Obama has been a part of scandal as well? Are we forgetting we know NOTHING about Obama? At least McCain is a predictable dumb ass, Obama could go all Karl Marx on us and most wouldn't have seen it coming (though most voted for Bush last time, so most aren't exactly paying attention.)
You probably don't know anything about Obama for the same reason you don't care about McCain's faults: You're an ignorant idiot.
  • Dayo · 1 year ago
if only it Ron Paul could be in his place..........wonder why not.....hummm.....
  • Gamut · 1 year ago
How about you donate to the cause then. If you're going to spend money to alleviate someone's suffering, then government is the last place you want to send it. Nothing survives the meat grinder of politics. Not even good intentions.

There's no such thing as an 'in-touch' politician, just as there is no such thing as an 'in-touch' government contract bidding process. It's all payola, no matter which party dimwit bureaucrat is sitting across the huge oak table they furnish the procurement office with.
  • Gamut · 1 year ago
And another thing. America is not 'defined' by its politicians, nor do they bestow it with a 'direction'. Each of those things is a result of the individual actions of all of her citizens. And if you think the GOP has changed the "direction" of the country then ask yourself "Have they changed your morals, have they taken away your determination?".

I'd rather die than have my life "direction" be "defined" or even represeneted by some crooked shoe-licking politician -- GOP or DEM.
  • Jon from ASU · 1 year ago

  • Al T · 1 year ago
A vote for a 3rd candidate, no matter who it is, is a vote that favors McCain... and do you want a guaranteed dose of the same? more war? more sinking economy? more debt? (to the chinese BTW), more depreciation of the US dollar??

I'm sorry but if you are considering a third alternative you're an idiot. In the past Governor election in Texas we had Kinky Friedman and a LOT of ppl said "why the hell not?".

Why not? because the guy you definitely don't want WILL win... and he did. So we're stuck with him once again.
  • Michael · 1 year ago
That's the dumbest bit of drivel ever muttered. A vote for a third party is NOT a vote that favors McCain. There's absolutely no logic in the crap you said.

I'm not sorry, If you're insisting that voting for a third party is in any way, shape, or form voting for McCain, you're not only an idiot, but you really shouldn't be allowed to vote.
  • Michael · 1 year ago
hey, from one Michael to another, you're completely wrong. every vote for a third party isn't for Obama, and every vote that isn't for Obama is to McCain's advantage. I realize that Obama isn't exactly looking like the world's greatest candidate these days, but throwing your vote away just to teach the democratic party a lesson isn't going to do any good.
  • Michael · 1 year ago

Untrue. As much as I think Ron Paul has some great ideas, Obama has some of the best policies for having an open, free society. He supports middle-class/small buisness tax breaks. He also supports ending foreign wars.

What more can you ask for from a mainstream candidate?

  • Douglas · 1 year ago
Nope, you're right, we sure can't afford Obama's 'socialist' policies, but we can definitely afford another fiscally 'conservative' war that dumps billions into the contractor state. Republicans only exist to make a small portion of the country that much more disgustingly wealthy while the rest of us fight over the remaining decent jobs and social services. Wake the heck up America, 'Republicans' from Ronald Reagan to Ron Paul are no better than LA drug dealers: they're duplicitous, greedy , violent, and short sighted. Yeah, the democrats aren't perfect, quite the contrary they're by-and-large a bunch of gutless pricks. But at least they're not the other guy.

  • Adam · 1 year ago
I can see why he needs a 9-car motorcade, he is a presidential candidate, and this shouldn't be an issue. What should be an issue is the fact that he's going to continue taxing the middle class while giving breaks to his super-rich friends (over 5 million a year of course), overturn roe v wade, keep us in the iraq quagmire, invade iran (opening another can of worms and stretching our military to breaking), and that's just the start.

Obama is far from perfect, but he's a hell of a lot better than the other alternative...

Lastly, for those of you who say this is a two-person race, keep in mind you could have voted for someone else at the beginning when it was a 20 person race.

Surprisingly light contribution from Ron Paul quacks. Guess the memo has finally been passed that he will not now, nor ever be president? The political system can only sink so low, though maybe a Paul presidency would actually break the sling-shot barrier with it ineptness and catapult the position back to legitimacy. So, yah, Paul for 08 or 12 or whatever. American needs you (so it can see how much of a joke it really is).
  • Tod Roberts · 1 year ago
Ohh so you are voting for who? Until people like you get your self get off the crackpipe that is the American media and think for yourself (how does being a parrot feel?"). • Someone wanting change · 1 year ago
Surprised, no, just another rich republician wanting to take control and to give the rich even more tax breaks at the expense of the poor and middle class. He is totally out of touch with the American public, but some of them still think he will help them or that they will benefit from him being president, like when they voted for both "bush's". Tell all those who voted for bush that it may get worse with McLaim and their homes and investments will only be worth far less.
And then there are the one's who think that they are going to make a difference if they vote for ron paul. Huh? What turnip truck did they fall off? The political system may suck, but at least Obama offers a chance of change. Someone who is new to the system's of power in control. There is only two choices, so which is better.

Well, Brit, enjoy the 100 years of fighting a war in Iraq that the commander-in-chief obviously doesn't fully comprehend -- a war, mind you, that's allowing oil prices to skyrocket and costing us one trillion dollars, valuable funds that could be used to provide all Americans with affordable, reliable health care; alternative energy that is developed in this country, thus providing new jobs and sustaining our environment; reform our social programs like Social Security; and fix our crumbling infrastructure and revitalize the economy. Sure, John McCain has plans to deal with these things too, but they're illogical and unrealistic.

I don't know about you, but I'm not too thrilled about the prospect of such an ill-guided and hot-headed man becoming President of the United States.
  • Not_it · 1 year ago
I apologize... but even though I think the war should be over soon, I wish you would get your facts right. The war has not been the cause of the oil jump in prices. Let us not forget CHINA who has more than 1 billion people and INDIA who has more than 1 billion people. They are buying and consuming MORE AND MORE of the world's oil supply. yes, many of the people in these countries don't own cars, but the percent that do is very great and growing. SUPPLY is staying the same while DEMAND is increasing, thus prices rise. Take some economics before you tell me this war is THE cause of oil prices. Ethanol is driving up the price of food("renewable energy"). yes. reform is needed. I will give you that.

    Man....

It really sounds like two grade school kids arguing on here about who's worse, McCain or Obama for president. I see the long standing idea of you should never argue about politics or religion is still true. People will hold their beliefs no matter if you put pure 100% truth on the table or not. Kudo's to the guy who put up the link 'http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem'. That pretty much spells it out right there.

Come at people with a actual fact and they repel back criticizing a persons character. All in hopes of taking some of the heat off from answering the question itself.

Here's a bit of advice for all you John McCain voters out there who are bashing Obama on this, and many other threads.

Wake up. Quit fucking watching Fox News and do some actual research into your candidate. Dont rely on a news channel owned by Rupert Murdoch. If you dont know who he is, or what he stands for do your googleing. Do some ACTUAL research into John McCain. How many times was he married? What happened to his first wife? Where did he go to college? What were his grades in college? FInd out some actual facts about the ill tempered old man before you vote him as the one who has his finger on the red nuke button. Do you really think a man with 7 houses (that he didnt know he had) and $300 leather loafers can relate to your $9.50 an hour job at the Gap folding clothes? Lets be serious here and think about that.

Now before you go bashing Obama please look into some facts of the man. Look up his grades, look up his beliefs and see what hes all about as well. But, dont call the guy a Muslim just because your too ignorant to look up actual facts on the guy. And I am not talking about facts like (ihateobama.com, or obamathetruth.org) These personal websites people set up as domains and type anything in quotes and it seems every redneck dumbass with a 7th grade literacy level believes whatever they say. Do some checking. Look up facts that are actual facts and not just some dumbass who hates Obama, writing about how he hates America and swore in on the Quran instead of a Bible. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22767392/)

In turn not giving ONE specific credible cited source as backing proof with claims.

When you do type in forums, learn how to put together sentences and spell check. It makes you seem more mature and serious. More 'grown-uppy'.

Turn off American Idol or whatever dumb reality TV show your watching and check your facts, get your records straight. Look into McCains past and Obamas and make an informed decision instead of watching Fox News.

I cant help but notice that everyone that is replying here in support of McCain can not form a grammatically correct sentence for the life of them. He sure is appealing to his target audience!

    Informed outsider's perspective:
Americans are fucked either way, but McSame is by far the lesser of two evils.
As far as party candidates go, Obama is really a novelty and I wish he were running in Canada instead.

    gee...thanks for your 'informed perspective'
stay the hell up in canada.

Im from ireland and am following the campaign closely. The world, not only america, does not need or want a hotheaded person like this in charge of the most influential country in the world. Vote for obama people. For everyone. The world needs wars to stop, McCain wont deliver on that. The world needs new energy sources, McCain wont deliver on that either. We all need a new, young mind in that seat. America is voting for the future of the world, not just their country. I hope america makes the right decision. Its a big 'un!

Why is everyone so scared of more socialized public programs? It's only because our country is so materialistic and elitist that we're scared of socialized programs. Get over the fear; we could use a little shake-up, if that what it comes to.

Great site, hope you guys vote Obama.

    regards,
    the rest of the world

McCain is promising more wars and that will only make our daily lives even worse. McCain is not on the same page as Americans.

Sherlock, McCain WAS well known for working with the other side. Until this decade. As of 2000, he is a pure neocon, and any "maverick" label is simply wrong. He is with Bush 95% of the time, and will continue the failed policies of Bush/Cheney. Either he changed his principles, or he didn't change them but says he did. Either way, he is not a man to be trusted. As for Obama working with the other side, you might want to look up the Obama/Lugar bill, that shows a bipartisan effort to come together on an issue of global importance.
